S3flowshield

S3flowshield is a customizable and secure WordPress video player. It does all the things that a video player should be able to do, and in addition it allows you to keep your Amazon S3 account secure. It does all this by encrypting the data stream, and then to unencrypted it again prior to playing the video. You can even use another video player with S3flowshield, say you would like to use the JW player instead of S3flowshield, well you can do that and also keep your Amazon account secured, because S3flowshield will work with the other video player and still encrypt your data stream. Yet another addition to the latest version of S3flowshield is the addition of the video sitemap feature, which for anyone who has been following Google and the things that the Google bot likes to see, is a nice bonus. Put briefly, the video site map allows Google to index all the videos that are hosted on your website, which sounds like and is a good thing especially if you have quite a few videos. If you aren’t using a video site map like the one that S3flowshield provides, you are quite simply losing out on free extra Google rankings you could be getting.

The creator of S3flowshield is Wilson Mattos, who has quite a few other very useful programs and WordPress plug-ins to his name. He is currently working with Jason Fladlien to develop and promote several WordPress related add-ons and plug-ins which you may have heard of, such as WP File Lock, WP Fan Pro, and Easy Redirect Script. The nice thing about S3flowshield is that it is completely customizable, and let me show you some examples of how that works.

Some of the options of S3flowshield allow you to do the standard things such as full-screen options, automatic playing or not, what to display on the control bar, and of course the size of the video window that you desire. You can also include a ratings window where viewers can rate the video, as well as a view count showing how many times the video has been watched. You can either embed the video in the webpage, or have it be displayed as a clickable link, which when clicked will be shown as a JavaScript pop over. But the main thing that S3Flowshield protects you from is from unscrupulous people getting into your Amazon S3 account and either stealing other content that you may have, or hotlinking to your videos and using up and making you pay for that bandwidth. Without getting into technical details, this is done very easily by someone who knows how and involves just looking at the URL of the video that is streaming from your Amazon S3 account. What S3flowshield does in a nutshell is encrypt this information so that it is no longer possible to do that.

There is a lot more fact S3flowshield is capable of doing, but I’ve given you the basics.
